Courtesy: Beth Buglione http://www.osubeavers.com/ The Oregon State University football program finished the season ranked No. 25 in the Associated Press Poll that was released following Monday’s national championship game. It’s the third time this decade and the second straight year the Beavers have finished nationally ranked. Led by head coach Mike Riley, the Beavers concluded the 2007 season 9-4, capped by a 21-14 victory over the Maryland Terrapins at the sixth annual Emerald Bowl.

The Beavers have won four straight bowl games, all with Riley at helm, the third-longest active streak in the nation. Oregon State was victorious in seven of their final eight games in 2007, including defeating then No. 2 California in Berkeley when the Bears had an opportunity to take over the top spot in the rankings. Oregon State also won its second consecutive Civil War game, downing the Oregon Ducks in Eugene for the first time since 1993.

Many of the Beavers who enjoyed the successful 2007 season will be showcasing their talents for the next level in the postseason all-star games that begin this weekend at Honolulu’s Aloha Stadium in the Hula Bowl. Riley, along with assistants Mark Banker, Danny Langsdorf and Mike Cavanaugh will coach in the game, with players Joey LaRocque, Yvenson Bernard, Jeff Van Orsow and Gerard Lawson competing.
